Hi, I’ve got a Tamiya Mk. Vb Spit waiting to be built, and I’m trying to get my references together now. It appears that there are some great references available in England, but I’m hard pressed to find good books in the U.S.? Does anyone know of any credible references for info and pictures?
The internet!
Search ‘Spitfire’ and you will pull up many sites dedicated to this famous aircraft. When I get around to it I purchased the new Tamiya 1/32 kit. I found a picture on a Spitfire site of a bare metal Mk 1 hybrid that flew around Canada in 1946 for public relations visits with a Lancaster bomber. The only modifications I plan are the removal of the weapons & wing blisters.
Every modeling site will have a search feature, do the same there and you probably will find a thread dedicated to the kit you plan on building. [ap]
Try the book Aero-Detail #8. It is Japanese with Japanese/English text. It is loaded with pictures and diagrams and is a great reference for the Spitfire Mk1 to MkV. You can find it on Ebay for $25 to $35.
