Super Star Destroyer Project

Here is a 72" (6 foot) Super Star Destroyer scratch build that was started last year and will wrap up in the next month. It will have full lighting, single point mounting, and 2 little 7" Star Destroyers in scale to go with it.

This is the outer hull plates mounted to the aluminum and MDF armature.

This is a compilation of the upper cityscape while it is being detailed.

Here is the rear engine decks being blocked in and awaiting detail.

And last the forward bay being detailed.

all i can say is WOW incredible cant wait to see the model is done

Holy cow! You sir are a force of nature !

Thanks guys!

Looking forward to more on this one. thanks for sharing.

Engine pods and cutouts being detailed,

Pattern for the engine bells,

Fantail being detailed,

Man are you nailing this one! Are the engines pvc pipe with sheet and corrigated sheet styrene built up on them? Do I also see battle ship decks in the mix? Keep them thar pictures coming!

Yes sir that would be the engines. So far I’m at 35 ship kits used for parts. By time I’m done I’ll have donor parts from around 60 different kits.

Holy mackerel!! That’s some crazy detail on that thing!

How are you doing the little jaggedly made pieces for all the cityscape details? Are all those shapes cut out by hand??? [:O]

Yes a very bruised hand lol. I hand cut them with a nibbler and then removed sections to create the offsets when viewed from the top down.

Here is the finished fantail section.

Sheesh! I’ll bet your hand was about to fall off, even with the help of that nibbler. I wish I had known that tool existed when I was working on my Falcon. [sigh]

LOL yeah it kills after a while. Here is a link to a nibbler. A must have tool for sci-fi builds.
