Right now, Dragon have very good exterior kits for M1A1, Sherman, Tiger, and so on… Wouldn’t it be cool if Dragon produced 1/35 kits that also included interior details? For example, a fully detail interior and extorior M1A1 with lots of metal parts, photoetch. How many of you would buy it? Do you think this is where Dragon is going in the future? How great would that be?
Well, from what I have seen in there ads, they are going to start making easier kits. I think a super kit would be kinda cool for guys who build a lot of armor, now for somebody like me who is just working on their first one, it would be a no, I wouldn’t buy something that detailed, just because I don’t think I could do it right now, but the easy kits, now that might get them an edge in getting people started. I think you might be on to something now though, easy kits to get them started, and then superkits once they have built up their skill.
The super kit was the original idea for the M1A1 AIM kit. It was originally billed to have a full interior to include an engine compartment by a resin company that was working with them. At some point during the process, the unnamed resin comapany deal fell through. I would welcome the super kit myself. It would be great to build. Then I wouldn’t have to do a bunch of scratch-building like I usually end up doing.
I for one would be more than happy to take a super kit. I doubt the price will get as high as what i am paying for all those 150 dollar projects I’ve been trying to gather. I bought a Czech masters M1A1 engine set to go with the dragon m1a1 aim and am gonna hopefully scratch build the rest of the crap to fit it in the kit since it was designed for the Tamiya kit. The turret and driver interior is coming out of the older dragon m1a1 and the italeri m1a1 with resin interiors. See that’s already a crap load of money thrown into it.
Though if they do make some within a year or two, I’d be kinda pissed for I’ve already dumped a ton to set up a bunch of projects that wont take flight for a while due to work and all.
