Ok, I’ve got a BIG problem and I hope somebody can help me out.
Went home for lunch and noticed a nice big blob of dried super glue on the front cowling of the model I’m working on. Evidently I laid it down last night and it fell into a glop of glue that I didn’t even realize was there.
There’s no hobby stores in this town, and the closet one is 70 miles away. Is there anything other than Zap-a-Gap debonder that I can use to remove this mess without damaging the plastic?
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
I’ve never tried it, but I’ve heard that you can put the part in the freezer. When the glue gets really brittle, you just pop it off.
Like I said… I’ve never done it myself…

If the freezer tip doesn’t work, you might try soaking the part in hot water for a while. Moisture in the air cures superglue, but I was told by my dentist that the reason dentists don’t use superglue is that the moisture in the mouth degrades the bond. Also, the hot water might cause a differential expansion of the superglue and the plastic, which might loosen the superglue. Filing and sanding forever is the last resort.

Hey Guys,
First chance I’ve had to get back over here. The freezer technique worked! Let it sit in the freezer for a few hours and the glue basically powdered and fell off with just a little bit of pressure from a hobby knife.
Took a little bit of minor sanding to clean up the spot, then it was just as good as new.
