Enjoy!!

That is about the coolest thing out there!!!

that’s it i’m throwing my academy tiger in the bin…if thats his first model since childhood …
he missed his vocation by a country mile…I HATE HIM…the talented …so and so…this guy has the makings of a MASTER…teach me oh - obi wan. ahhhhh the force is strong in this one yes…

He is most assuredly suffering from AMS. I wish I had the patience, dedication and talent to build a kit that would look half as good as his is so far.

I don’t care how many books or reference materials I would look at, I still wouldn’t know where to place all the add-ons (Or even where to order for that matter)

I would REALLY love to try something like that.

That is just simply amazing!

I’ve seen many model interiors in my day, but not one that freakin detailed. What the heck was this guy doing for 20 years. And to be able to pick up a kit and just build and interior that detailed. I think this guy is a model builder, just hasn’t done Armor in over 20 years. He’s even a member of his local IPMS. A casual modeller I think not. Maybe I am just getting all worked up because I have been modelling for many years, and there is no way I can ever detail an interior with enough patience to gain those results. God bless him!!

I saw this when it was originally posted over at Missing Lynx. Quite impressive then and still is now. This gent really knows how to build.

There is a very glaring negative to this build though. 550 pounds for a 1/35 scale model, that’s in excess of 1000 dollars in my puny Canadian Dollars.

Deakon - don’t toss your Academy Tiger in the trash, I’m sure you are going to do just fine with it.

Kaleu, Erock, & Moses - You three wish you could build as good as him. Poof … your dreams are answered because you can. If you want to take the time to research as much as this fellow did, if you want to spend next months pay check on aftermarket parts, if you want to spend the next year building just one kit, you all can build a kit like this.

I’ve been working on the Academy Tiger as well, and I wouldn’t even think of looking for more of a headache than the kit is origionally. I think the missus would shoot me first before I did anything like that. My 1/32 A-10 is bad enough!

Gotta hand it to him, though. He is a god…

Your absolutely right shermanfreak, thinking about it. That guy did put alot of freakin time into that one kit. In the time he built that, I would of had at least 4 or 5 kits done or so (with extra detail). Demon, I laughed so hard at your post and had to show my wife this thread. She concurs with you good buddy. She would do the same to me.

Was also reading that thread and I asaw a great post by MIG (Miguel Jimenez) the great Spanish modeller. He said…and I quote…

You have a problem!! March 11 2003, 7:44 AM

I don’t want walk in your shoes…how do you think paint these crazy work??? I can’t understand it…the people is lossing the horizont!

Sincerily, I haven’t words for explain how i feel my self after see these…“watch mecanism”…

Whay not do you go to the cinema or shoping or to the beach??? will be much better for your health!!!

Oh my God!, I can’t understand the modelling…

MIG

This is from one of the best Armor modellers in my book. I laughed hard when I saw this. I guess he can get away with a post like that considering who he is.

I would love to see pictures of the finished model.

Well… That certainly makes one feel unworthy!

I agree, very impressive. But I also agree with Robert. With enough money ($1000) and with that much dedication you could build one too. I’m not belittling the guy’s effort, its scope is beyond belief. I admire his attention to detail and the level for which he committed himself and his endeavor. But he also isn’t going to paint it either. His focus was on the build. So we have the Sistene Chappel with no mural. An impressive architectural effort. Looking at what he did, I see nothing that money couldn’t buy and nothing you guys can’t build. Don’t sell yourselves short and don’t belittle your own efforts. You’re comparing apples to oranges. Erock68 hit it spot on. It should make you want to try something a little tougher than you are used to.

You want to cry? Go pick up a book on prison ship models. These were ships built by naval prisoners of war in the 18th c. Using a scrap of metal or their own small knives and bits of wood and soup bones they collected. If you’ve ever seen any of these models you will be absolutely astonished at the level of detail and their complexity. Even by modern standards.

Mike

Whoa!!
That’s pretty impressive. Seeing models like that only inspires me to improve my skills and abilities. Pretty fantastic stuff…I’d very much like to see the thing painted and weathered.
Perhaps this person suffers from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I myself have gone a little “overboard” on a kit or two - mainly specific aircraft models - flap sets, wheels, props, cockpit set, decals, photo etched detail set - turned a $45 kit into a $200 kit. But 550 pounds? This guy has serious dedication, and what he doesn’t now know about a Tiger 1 probably isn’t worth knowing.
Pretty amazing…
LeeTree

Bad news Lee … your wish is not going to come true. If you continue to read this gentleman’s post you’ll find that he will not be painting or weathering this beast.

Bob from what I have read he is still wafflin about painting it. I don’t think just anybody could do a kit like this. I think this guy surpasses my level, and I can do some scratch building. He’s like a surgeon. There are 4 or 5 guys I know in the Armorama club that could probably do this level of work. The great thing is, he appears to be modest and he has given us all the priveledge of seeing a truely exquisite kit. It also cuses most of us to raise the bar on our models. I know this isthe effect it had on me

I forgot to mention. I saw some pictures on his exteriors. He also has folding fenders and the equivelent detail there.

Absolutely this gentlemen is without a doubt a great builder and I’m not trying to take anything away from him. And yes it should make us all strive to be better builders than what we are and that’s the point I’ve being trying to make with this entire thread. Don’t sit there with mouths agape saying that we only wish that we could be this good because each and every modeller here could be the next master builder. It takes time and effort and I truly believe this.
I’d love to see this beast painted, if he puts as much effort into the painting as he did the research and building that would make this one fantastic model. IMHO it’s the painting and finishing that can make or break the model.

Amen Rob…painting and weathering is where it is at. Great advice.

After seeing this, i’m reaching for a gun.

I QUIT!!! [:D]

To say I’m impressed is an understatement to say the least. Anal comes to mind , but I guess if I was that talented I’d do it once too.[:p]

I guess his next project will be micro brain surgery. He probably hasn’t done that in a few years either!!!

Gawd, moving on to learning how to weather a model…[:D]
