Super Crystal Clear

Hello,

A while back there was a clear solvent named “Super Crystal Clear” which was used for filling model windows instead of using the bulky model ones.

I can’t seem to find it anymore. Does anyone know of a similiar material used today for that purpose ?

Welcome to the forum, eyal_am !
I don’t know of a clear “solvent,” but it sounds a lot like Microscale Krystal Kleer. Its available from MANY distributors. Its a great product. I use it to attach canopies, & make small, clear windows.
Hope this helps !

Questions regarding Krytal Kleer…
I used it for the first time this weekend. First I glued all my window in and waited about 16 hours b/4 handing. While gluing the halfs of the fuselage together two of the windows popped out. Does this glue take longer to harden of is it just very weak?

Also, I pin drop on a window (middle) and it did cause the characteristic haze. I was a little disappointed. I was under the impression that this would not happen with Krystal Kleer.
Is this your experience too?

Krystal Kleer is a water based white glue, and needs to be thoroughly mixed, if the bottle is new. The only thing I can think might have happened is that it was thin. Take a piece of sprue, stir it vigorously, & try again. I’ve always had good luck with it, so I’ve never had to troubleshoot it.

It comes in a tube with a needle applicator. The only way to mix it would be to take some out of the tube. Once exposed to air, the suff gets clumpy in two minutes. I don’t think mixing it is an option.

My apologies. I thought you were using a different product. I’m not familiar with the one of which you speak. Sorry that I can’t be of help.

I maybe wrong, but I don’t think you are supposed use that product to glue in plastic parts. Again I don’t use this product, but I think you apply it inside a opening like a porthole. The best way I can discribe it, is like soapy water in a bubble wand. The Crystal clear is like thinner elmers glue at this point. When it dries it tighten and turns clear, the final affect is clear windows without having to use the supplied clear styrene parts.[;)]

Thanks for your help all.
