Just called this done. I have fought it since November. It’s the Academy Tom that I picked up a decade ago for $4 (Yes, Virginia, they do sometimes get built). Biggest fit issues are the front fuselage seams and intake pieces. Took some putty throwin’ to get it good. The pit is very nice when complete. Used Humbrol enamel cuz the lhs decided to be out of stock on my top two choices. Even then, it was the last tin. BTW, don’t rehab dried out Metalizer, it will wipe off instead of buff out. The CAM decals fought me also because it’s fitted for Hasegawa; the ventral strake stripes and tail markings didn’t quite fit, and the mouth ended up with wrinkles from the curvature of the nose. I’d put weapons on it, but with the trouble I had, it would probably use them against me [;)]. Anyway, I’m happy to have it, on to the pics :
Looks like $4 well spent. Very nice job! I’m still not sure which full color Tomcat markings I like best: VF-111, VF-1, or VF-84… all look so good on a Tom…
Very nice build, it’s just fantastic.

Looks very good, Sir. I understand the nose are decal issues, I have the same issue with my VF-111 F4. It is nearing completion, hope it looks half as good as this -14.

Great job Mississipp. Looks like you took care of all the rough edges. That is one of my favorite Tomcat schemes.
The Sundowners have the best schemes. Great build.
She looks very nice despite the struggle it gave you.
Thanks, y’all. That Top Gun movie would’ve been so much cooler if they used this squadron’s birds.
Great job on the Tomcat! The Sundowner markings are my favorite ones on the F-14. Always glad to see another F-14 build wearing those markings.

Nice Tomkitty you have there MV!
In spite of the decal issues, that’s gorgeous. Tamiya kit?
Thanks, y’all! Lawdog, I used the Academy kit for this one. It had been languishing in the stash for years.
Regardless of the issues you encountered, you turned out one incredibly sharp looking Tomcat. Sweet job. Very sweet indeed.
