I HAVE A BEAUTIFIL 69 SHELBY IM WORKING ON I HAVE TO PAINT IT SILVER METALLIC I USE ACRYLIC TESTOR SPRAY CANS BUT I HAVE A HARD TIME GETTING THE FINISH I WANT ANY IDEAS ON WHAT I SHOULD DO FROM NOW ON SO I CAN BE PROUD OF MY WORK. Deano, do you have an airbrush? If not, and you’re using spray cans, refer to the FSM article on spray painting with cans. Use a good quality paint, heat it thoroughly and carefully in a pan of warm water, and dust the color over your primed car body. After a couple of light dusting coats, hit it with a wet coat.
It never hurts to practice on a scrap car body if you have one, or try the technique on a tin can first. If you use a good quality gloss paint you wont need the Future clear coat. I usually use future to gloss up flat paints or as a clear sealing coat over decals, such as on an airliner.
