I started this project last week and posted some info on my blogs and art gallery, and figured I’d start some posts here to get advice from master modelers and builders!
I started off doing the photo etched parts that will go on the lower hull:

Then I worked on the lower hull assembling most of it prior to priming it with Krylon (1:1 scale!) Camouflage Olive Drab (it works well as primer on the plastic and PE parts…). After that dried I used Vallejo Colors #922 U.S.A. Uniform (a tad lighter than the real Medium Green, but the closest I have at the moment, I tend to improvise a bit on color schemes… since I’m going to weather this accurately and have it coated like my Stryker was in Iraq with moon dust… lighter will be just fine…).

i will be watching this one…[tup]
Nice work so far! I too will be watching for more!
I’ve got the following Strykers all waiting their turn on the bench:
-
Trumpeter’s recon variant
-
AFV Club’s CV/TACP variant
-
AFV Club’s Mobile Gun System variant
And am getting ready to buy the Trumpeter ATGM variant off eBay.
Wikipedia says there are 10 different Stryker variants. I’m hoping that between Trumpeter and AFV Club they produce kits of all 10.
Quick question, will the Eduard PE SLAT Armor for the Trumpeter Stryker work on an AFV Club Stryker?
Not sure myself.
I’m not exactly looking forward to doing that slat armor. I saw the finished product at a contest in May. It looks really sharp; but also looks like a lot of work. I’m planning on doing one of each of the variants so I figure I’ll have to do it sooner or later…probably on the recon variant.
