Is there any substitute for decal setting solutions? Home made? Maybe found on a drugstore, the supermarket, a hardwarestore, an art store, a stationary?

Hey, I’d like to know that too!
Not being a chemist, and judging by the smell, I think that the Micro-set type products have alcohol and water and possibly a detergent, while the Micro-Sol type products have acetic acid and a wetting agent. Acetic acid is the acid in vinegar, so maybe you could try a home brew. The commercial solutions last years for me, so the cost and availabilty are not a problem, but experimentation is always interesting.
vinegar will work, but I recommend trying a test strip. I have used it several times, and on acrylic paints, but they are always sealed with future.
