This is the 37mm gun as shown in the instructions.
Nothing complicated.
But, as it looks right now I’m going to have to break out the calipers and research some measurements from the internet.
At some point the partially prepped parts (including the small plastic box I put them in) was apparently devoured by a hideous carpet monster.
I’ve looked for hours employing every search trick I know.
How in the ‘ell did it swallow the 2” plastic box I put it all in?
I don’t want to buy another kit or do 3D printing just to get the gun either.
So, I guess there’ll be a lull here since I’m going to have to redo it all by hand.
I’ll have it up as soon as I can get it finished. A short while from now……………
Thank you for your interest and inclusion with this subject.
This has only happened to me one time before, about 12 years ago. That part (thankfully a simple, one piece part) showed up about 3 years later… in a far corner all the way across the living room where no one ever goes.
Logged you out?!? Amazing!! My old account ‘disappeared’ when I reset the email address on it, but after a few backs-and-forths with the admin team here, that all got straightened. They told me to log out and back in and things should be fixed. Luckily, the changes happened dynamically, as I have NEVER been able to log out, on purpose, or accidentally. [:|]
Nice work, though. I have a couple of subs in my stash, mostly really wierd stuff, like the Hunley and Proteus, but I do appreciate WIPs of all types, since there’s stuff to learn from almost each and every one.
If you lost the whole box, then chances are you did what I do. You moved it to a “safe place” so it wouldn’t get lost. Now where that safe place is, is anyone’s guess. But I am betting it is quite safe. Some day in the near future, you will wake up at 3:23am and dramatically remember where you put it. Do not drift back to sleep, or you will immediately forget it again.

I still have NO idea. I’m still looking even though
I’ve almost got the 37mm finished.
Thank you for the positive comment.
Been out doing some target practice this week so that’s
put me a bit behind.
DM, just a thought. Do you have a trash can near the bench? I’ve dropped or accidently pushed stuff off the bench into mine quite a few times. Each time I had to dump it out and go thru it.
I am using you as a jumper here. Disastermaster, This sub is coming along nicely. I would reply to your posts, But, The reply box isn’t showing up when I read your posts. Thanks Fox!
I always pick through any leftovers on the counter (no mass sweeps) and quite often re-purpose pieces of chopped sprue to put in my “Fruit of the Sprue” jar.
Ok. …… finally.
Here’s how the 37 mm went…. and with only one good eye.
(I lost vision in my left eye back in 1995 and my hearing (permanently) in my left ear in 1978 due to a brain tumor.)
Since this is too small to make proper gunnery wheels that have four spokes, this is what I did…. several times.
I’ve seen these type of solid wheels before.
The picture is a bit blurry but it gets the idea across good enough. The gunnery wheels were punched out plastic card and the rims were made by pre-shaping copper wire and tacked into place with superglue on the back sides followed by Tamiya thin on the front sides. It wasn’t hard.
And next,
a group picture of the evolution and the (magic of the) painted items.
Bits of brass, plastic sprue, plastic card and tiny parts cut from other unused items.
I got a bigger box…
Again, I know it’s not perfect but as far as I’m concerned it does the job.
Sorry this took a while to post here but sometimes life gets in the way…
I’m happy to spread the word about it. On Sundays, listening to those wonderful songs from yesteryear always gets me revved up to take on the next week.
Actually, the judges will never see it.
But I will be showing it at our local hobby shop’s club meeting. I quit the contest circuit back when
!http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/farting/super-fart.gifgas prices began their eternal a scent
I’ll be putting up the partially painted results of the “major sub assemblies” as soon as I can get the pictures taken.
After I upload those “in progress shots” and when I have the model all put together, I’ll be taking better staged pictures of the completed model for review.
