Su-85/100 help please

Can someone help me with this slightly vexing question…

What is the purpose of the devices immediately to the left of the stowed log at the base of the fighting compartment as shown in the image below. Looks like the unditiching log is clamped by one of them. But I am unsure if that is the real use for them. A lot of images I have got in my references shows that they are not on all vehicles either.

Are they external stowage clamps?

Hope someone can help as I am trying to decide if they go on my little Dragon 1:72 Su-100!

Cheers and thanks.

Mike

I’m no expert, but they look like grousers of some sort. If so, they’d be clamped to the track at various intervals to improve traction in very soft ground or on ice. They’re also very easy to lose, so lots of vehicles in action would lose them.

Spamicus is correct, they are called ice sprags or grousers, which were attached to the tracks to increase traction on ice.

several come with the 1/48 Tamiya Russian tanks, the log doesn’t but the track pieces do [swg]

Thanks everyone!

I can leave them off [:)]

leave them off?? WHAT?? but, but, but they came with the kit[swg]

As my son would say…

Oh noes!!!

I am leaving off an external fuel tank and adding a rolled tarp. Might add an unditching log as well [:)]
