Su 122 advice please!!!

[:D] Hi all… I have an old Tamiya Su 122 that I thought I better finish after many years. I thought I would give it a winter finish, but I am quite pleased with how it has progressed. I have some roadwheels and tracks arriving in about 3 weeks. It’s had about 9 layers of drybrush, and is due for its first wash. What thoughts??

I was going to add a winter finish, but like the way it is shaping up. It has just received 9 coats of drybrush, and is ready for a wash perhaps?

The kit was assembled 12(?) yrs ago. A very small amount of weathering has been done with oils around the front. Walk area’s will be “tape-peeled” later. Sub frame parts arriving in 3 wks.

what are the markings going to be and are you planning on putting it on a base?

The kit has been in a fire, flood, 2 cities & 4 towns, and met about 10 girlfriends! All in the semi assembled condition!! I will just use the kit markings, as there are no supply shops close to me! I never had much luck with dioramas, but might attempt one for this! Have a bit more patience now…

I have only just bought an airbrush, I might try those techniques with the next kit I attempt!
In my pre-airbrush days I developed a layered drybrush style I used here, starting from black and working upwards through greens to earths and finally silver highlights. Makes a great texture on the kit that mimics steel. The other beauty of it was I didnt need to stop between layers, the tackier the paint the more visual the effect. Shows my younger impatience I guess!!!
