Styracosaurus Bust

Since there’s not a specific Dinosaur category, I thought I’d post here. This is my 1/15 Styracosaurus bust created by the insanely talented Shane Foulkes of Cretaceous Creations.

I painted it with various colors of NuWorlds and Tamiya acrylic paints and then finished it with some acrylic washes.

Beautifully finished, Rob!
It’s really amazing, how many great models of dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals are available to us today. I’m old enough that some of the first models I built (using Duco Household Cement!) were the old Pyro/Life-Like “prehistoric monsters” range. But with resin casting, and now 3D printing, and talented sculptors, we have the best kits ever made of them.

Well done!

Best regards,
Brad

A PS-you chose the right forum. This one includes dinosaurs along with figures of all kinds.

That is just awesome! Really great finish. Who makes this kit?

Now this…this turned out pretty dang good Rob!! Wow man! I’ve seen a few dinosaurs and some aquatic wildlife built up into some really good looking outcomes and this one is right up there with 'em. Outstanding work. :+1:

Excellent paint job. Especially the eyes. They make the piece come to life.

It never occurred to me that dinosaurs would be a modeling subject. That is so cool. And you did an amazing job.

Absolutely! They even have their own Category at IPMS Nationals!

If you want to see some amazing Dino buildups, you’ve got to go to WonderFest in Louisville, KY.

Oh, almost since the beginning of plastic models. Life-Like/Pyro, back in the day, Airfix, Tamiya, Aurora, Lindberg with new subjects (as well as re-releasing the Pyro kits). Those are all companies that have produced kits of dinosaurs and other prehistoric subjects
Yep, almost since the beginning.

I have no doubt. Unfortunately, growing up in the almost literal middle of nowhere, I just didn’t see kits like that. Cars, trucks, airplanes, tanks, and the occasional ship.

Or…maybe I wasn’t looking for them and just didn’t see them. Either way, I’m learning something practically every day here!
