Sturmtiger shells - Howto make transport crates

Both the kit shells and Tamiya Aluminium shells do not come with any shells in the wooden transport packing (for that you have to get the Royal Models add-on, and they are cast onto the shell), so it was time to get creative.

You will need:
2 inch Hold n’ Fold (‘The Bug’)
0.5x2mm lime wood strip (from model ship supplies)
Stanley knife blade

The shells are gorgeous - but need the packing

Cut the lime wood into 30mm lengths

Place the strip lenghtwise in the Hold n’ Fold with 1mm protruding

Gently cut along length with blade

Apply to shell (after painting) and then add two straps with some cut from spare PE fret (not shown here)

*Edit
In order to avoid possible damage to the surface of the Hold n’ Fold, place some styrenne sheet under the wood strip before clamping down

looks good
are you going to use the plastic shells too

I’m not sure - I’m thinking of a diorama where the crew would be getting resupplied - the plastic shells would maybe used inside
