Still have to love the old Tamiya kits. Finish up will be in a couple of days.

Good evening, here are some shots of the Sd.Kfz163 I finished for the turretless GB.
Now on to a wingy thing…LOL. Dont know which one yet, I have added some big ones as of late so I will have to consult with a few on this site…DAVE, ED, and ERIC…LOL

Boy Bob, you really got this guy done in a hurry. Nice to see one of these older guys built up. Like the camo and dust.
A couple of friendly observations though:
- The cross next to the driver looks unweathered compared to the rest.
- The rust streaks on the inside of the schurzen are perhaps a bit over done
- The sprocket-teeth should be metallic-grey or steel
- The ends of the two-hooks look over-shiney. I think they should be the same color as the wire.
All-in-all, you finshed another. You’ve been on a roll brother. As for your next AC, whatcha got? That trade sounds good too by the way. We’ll work that one out later. Toodles.
Wow, I didn’t catch it that this was an older kit. Listen to Tigerman tips, you’re headed in the right direction.
Eric - Thanks bro. I noticed the cross after the photo so that has been corrected. The streaks…well I didnt think that they would dry that dark…LOL, easily fixed though. The spokets Im not to worried about, reason is, when this gets into the dio I am planning there will be some mud all over the road wheels and sprockets. The two hooks??? Oh the tow cable? yeppers have to fix that as well. Good eye bro, Ill get cracking and get those tidbits done.

Hey Bob,
You are quite the building machine these days.
I’m not exactly sure what you’ve got planned for this one…you’ve hinted that there is more. My thought is that you could take this to the next level with just a little more attention.
The pigments appear to have washed out some of the definition - perhaps a light pin wash around some of the details will bring back the details. Also, it appears that the lower area of the side skirt (last photo) has a little tide mark - if you set the vehicle on it’s side and flood the panel with turpentine or thinner (careful not to disturb the surface with the brush) it should erase those marks when dried.
You guys getting together at the Vancouver HT off 78th? Sounds like you have a fun morning planned.

Rick - thank you. I will for certain take your advise. I started working on the base for the dio and will make all effective reapirs needed before mounting it to the base. I was wondering how to get rid of the Tide line you mentioned. I didnt really see it till the photos. Its amazing what a digital image can see.

Some good advice has been offered, only thing I can add to that is a suggestion to pick out the periscopes in the commander’s cupola to add a little more detail in that department. Nice work on this one. [B]
True, although built in large numbers, the StuG IV was nearly photographed as much as its cousin, the StuG III…One item missing from an otherwise good build is zimmerit…this looks to be an early to mid-production mnodel, which would call for it…

That is a solid build my brother. I saw a couple of things that caught my eye:
- Periscopes on the cupola look like they are the same color as the hull. Perhaps a light coating of clear green to give the impression of glass. I caught this on the Panther just before taking the last pics.
- The pad on the commanders hatch is the same color as the outside of the hull. maybe painting it up as a well worn leather pad?
As I’ve said this is a solid build![Y] I’ve got a soft spot for the Stugs. So what do you have in mind for your wingy thingy?
