Stupid Mistake

Hey all

I sort of painted part of the canopy that wasn’t supposed to be painted. Of course, I didn’t realize this until after the paint had dried. Whats the best way to remove this unwanted paint?

I’ve had pretty good luck with a cotton swab (Q tip) and testors brush cleaner. Don’t use the Testors Air Brush cleaner as its a little “hot”. Gently scrub the affected areas and it should clean right up.

Depends on the paint you’re using. If it’s acrylic, a cotton swab with a tiny bit of windex on it will do the trick, just go easy on wetting it as too much will squeeze out and run down, which will destroy any acrylic paint it touches. (It’s the amonia in the windex that breaks down acrylic).

I’ve had luck making a wooden scraper out of a popcicle stick or tooth picks to scrape aroud the edges.

Aztek Concentrated Airbrush Cleaner. The prefect paint stripper. Doesn’t cloud clear plastic. If its not attached to the model soak it for 24 hours and the paint will peel off. The cleaner is water souluble and you can keep using it for ever as the paint flakes sink to the bottom. It will even remove 30 year old paint from a model. Works on all types of paint as well.

i had to strip canopy once and used brake fluid, came off right away and didn’t hurt the clear plastic at all

I second the brake fluid, as it is an emeny to paint. I have used it, and it never fails. Avoid the silicone type,it won’t work. Richard

Works well on the fender of your car, too![:)]

This doesn’t deform the plastic or cloud it? I’ve been having a hard time with some do-over projects and nothings really working for me.

The other difference is there ain’t no fix for stupid
