Stuka

Hi everyone, I have been wanting to do a Stuka for a long time.[swg] I am just finishing up my Corsair and now have a chance to do something new. Does anyone have a recommendation for the scale and manufacturer?

Thanks

Chris

Depends on the scale. I’ve done the 1/24 scale Airfix kit many years ago and don’t remember much about it except that it was to big to sit on my shelf and to heavy to hang from the ceiling. In 1/48th I can recommend the R-M D and the G. Just don’t expect a whole lot of info when you do your research on the D and AM decals are a little sparse. Right now I have the D in my stash and a G on the way. I have never done one in 1/72 or 1/32 so I can’t comment on the ones available.

The new 1/32 Hasegawa Ju-87G is about as good as it gets.

I was really impressed with Academy’s 1/72 Ju-87G-1 (kit #1641). Nice recessed lines, crisply-molded parts, excellent detail for the scale including the cockpit, and no fit issues to speak of. My only recommendation would be to use a set of aftermarket decals.

My choices: 1/72= Academy, 1/48 & 1/32= Hasegawa.

Regards, Rick

I’ll recommend the 1/48 Hasegawa Ju-87G version. Gotta love those tank-busting cannon pods!

I would recommend the Hasegawa 1/48 B model. I built mine a couple of years ago, and thoroughly enjoyed the fit and lines.

I just finished the Airfix 1/24 Stuka a couple of months ago. Not a bad kit for its age. The kits only major problem is the horrible fit of all of the cowl panels. The rest of the kit goes together very nice. The only other problem I had was the tail wheel was not strong enough to hold the weight of the plane. I had to make a new strut out of brass rods. It definetly needs a lot of room to park it. Still when completed it is very impressive because of its size. Here are some pics where you can see the cowl fit. This is after grinding down the panels to thin them out.

Thanks Guys for all the options. I am going to start searching your examples right now.[:)] I will repost when I find the right one.

Thanks Again,
