Stug PE parts question

Got some Eduard PE for my (Dragon) Stug III G and I’m wondering what a couple of these parts are? I’ve got several books with reference photos and pictures of other modeler’s Stugs, but I haven’t seen a picture with these parts.

The parts are from the Eduard PE set # 35321. The parts are numbers #56 and #55 (They’re basically the same part…just different numbers).
Part #56 goes on the hatches on the top of the upper hull (next to the remote control machine gun)
Part #55 goes on the engine deck hatches.
These are small right angled pieces with a hole in them.
I would expect that handles could go where these parts are but these don’t look at all like handles.

I’ve been enjoying the forum…this is my first model in over 25 years!!

Possibly stops to prevent the hatches from opening too far?

Padlock hasps. There is one on the superstructure marked by the arrow and the other on the rear half of the hatch, on the far right corner, matching the position of the other. Keeps those pesky partisans out while you’re away from your rig. [}:)]

Thanks…Actually my first thought was that they looked like they were for padlocks but I just hadn’t seen any pictures of them before.
I’m sure most of them got knocked off after a short period of time.

Now I have to decide whether or not to use them on this Stug.
