Sure, If you don’t aleady have it, buy some DOT 3 Brake fluid (NOT brake cleaner!). Put it in a container that will submerge your part(s).
Let them soak for 2 hours. The brake fluid will not damage plastic (that’s why it comes in a plastic bottle!) or break glue bonds.
Get out an old toothbrush, and, while still submerged, scrub away. If it doesn’t come off easy, let soak overnight, or 4 hours. Then scrub again, and when all color is basically gone, or is just hanging on, run the part(s) under running water, and scrub. Let it dry, then brush of any dust and Go at it again!
Just make sure all the water is gone before you prime, or paint.
easy-off oven cleaner. works great for this. I’ve done it many times over the years.
Polly Scale ELO (easy lift off) is another product I have had good luck with. It is specifically marketed for this purpose. Just follow the directions on the bottle.
Man I wish this would have been posted about 3days ago. I thought, I read to use brake fluid before to strip paint. Well i used something else and now i need a new late Tiger turret…LOL[censored][
][:(][banghead][D)] Oh well live and learn thanks for the info cowboy[C):-)]
that’ll work alright but be careful with that brake fluid. it’s nasty stuff. try not to get it on your skin, the stuff burns if you play with it for a long time, that’s not a good sign.
Hmm. it didn’t for me, I didn’t even wear gloves… are you thinking of something else? It just left a “squeky” feeling on my skin, but nothing like CA glue on your arm…
let’s think about this. it P E E L S P A I N T . it’s not going to be particularly good for your skin. admittedly it’s not cyanide. if you get a drop on your hand i wouldn’t run to the doctor but if you need to get something out of a vat of the stuff, don’t stick your fingers in there, use tweezers.
