How do you make stretched sprue? I am assuming you put it over a heat source and slowly stretch it or something like that, but please tell me if I’m wrong.
Oh, man, I didn’t even see the other topic on stretched sprue! smacks self in head My apoligizies!
dont worry man…
Hey, its easy with a little practice -just hold each end of a piece of sprue about 1/3 to 1/2 inch above the flame on a candle - spin it in your fingers until it gets soft - get it away from the flame and pull your hands apart - the faster you pull while its hot, the thinner the stretched sprue will be.
A little riskier version is to let the sprue light up and pull it apart. Blow out the flames and quickly reattach the two pieces and apply a little pressure and some “squishing” then smoothly separate your hands. I find it gives me a thinner string and more consistently than the heating till its soft and then stretching it out.

I tried stretching sprue over a candle as instructed, and it worked very well. I actually had fun doing it![:D] Thanks a lot for the help, guys!
