...Strength, Weakness?

…I work in Human Resources (when I am not commanding Army Group South)…so I get to interview a lot of folks…one of my standard questions is: “Tell me your biggest strength and one area that you need to work on.”

…You can apply that question to many things in life, including hobbies. "So, fellow modelers, tell me: What is your biggest strength and one area that you need to work on?"

For me, Strength: Historical knowledge of subjects; Weakness: weathering

Strength: My ability to walk into an LHS and walk out with only a bottle of paint. My Scots heritage helps!

Weakness: Decals! I would gladly pay people to apply them for me!

My modelling strengths would be extreme patience and detail painting.

My weak points would definately be weathering.

Very good topic, MR!

My strenths: good eye for detail and scratchbuilding ability (AMS), guts to try audacious subjects (no Dora yet! LOL), good knowledge of equipment systems, geood historical knowledge and research skills

Weakness: too impatient w/weathering and finishing – so close to the end I often rush just to be done and working on my other projects :frowning:

Strength: Ignorance (Ignorance is bliss)

Weakness: Overdoing a technique. Don’t step back often enough during weathering to see the overall picture…

Hmmm… I’m still relatively new the hobby with my 2nd go around as an adult, but I think my strengths are my knowledge of WWII Tanks and Aircraft (especially German) and everything that goes with it, which really comes in handy with all the different variants, camo schemes etc. I’m starting to get pretty good with my airbrushing as well.

My biggest weakness I think is decals, especially after my little fiasco the other day with my Hasegawa Bf109G-14 for the Axis Aces GB… [sigh]

my strength, scratchbuilding, drawing out interior layouts for vehicles, etc…weakness, lack of focus, i bounce around from project to project and never really seem to finish a model [sigh]…hopfuly GBs and their deadlines can help me gain some focus

My strengths would have to be persistance. I try to never give up on a project and believe with the right helpand information i can achieve anything.

My weakness…EBAY [banghead]

…Guy

My strength… be able to pay for kits

Weakness… haven’t found area big enough to store/hide my kits.

For me, I would have to say that it is the EXACT opposite.

Strengths: Desire to build every piece of armor that exists

Weakness: eBay, too many models sitting on shelf, eBay

JK!![(-D]

My biggest strength is airbrushing. I think I have a good eye, a steady hand and good technique.

I definitely need to work on weathering. I also tend to rush through the weathering process and tend to lay it on too thick.[sigh]

Yes, this is a good one.

Strength ?

In modeling, [tup] that would be weathering, [(-D] humor, [^] personal fortitude and the ability to take any criticism without [:-,] ego damage.

Weakness ?

Totally deaf [:(] in my left ear and half blind in my [B)] left eye.

Steve

Strength: I am persistent if nothing else. I may not be very good at this yet, but I keep on trying.

Weakness: Painting, weathering and decals. I really don’t like this part of the build process. I’m not artistic in the least and partially color blind so painting and weathering gives me fits. And decals drive me nuts. Now if the manufacturers would only supply four or five decal sheets per kit I’d be okay. But how do they expect me to get it right the first time?! [:D]

Strengths: Knowledge, patience, persistence, good with an airbrush.

Weaknesses: Habit of doing the 100 yard dash towards the end, forgetting little stuff, attention span of a goldfish.

I’d say my strength is in airbrushing and my weakness is a tie between indy links and weathering.

Strength: Tenacity and commitment. Weakness: Weathering

my biggest weakness is inexperience

my biggest strength is inexperience, patience and desire-- with these 3, I can (hopefully) cut my own path, in my own time and in my own style— suddenly I feel like I am in a 12 step program-- lol[(-D]-- sharing is great- cool topic herr manstein[:)]—tread[#toast]

Strength: Building something strong and sturdy, and good automotive finishes, decent with an airbrush.

Weakness, applying a wash. I would just love for someone to show me face to face how to apply a good wash. Pictures and text just doesn’t cut it.

Strength: Tenacity and enthusiasm.

Weakness: Laziness and procrastination.

Another good topic from MR. Human Resources eh? aka The Dark Side.

Strengths: Passion for all things WW2 and an eye for spotting a good model/diorama theme.

Weaknesses: Figures, figures, figures. I just can’t get them right despite following any and all step-by-step instructions i can find.
