Stick and tissue Eindekker scratch build.

Oh! So it did! That is too bad. Now, without FM mag, and Penn Valley, one will have to do a complicated Google search. Much as l use Google, their search algorithms have tilted greatly towards their advertisers, and I have to do an Advanced Search these days in stead of a normal search. :frowning:

I chose to use diluted white glue to attach the tissue to the tail and horizontal stabilizers.Worked wel, and I tightened it up with a light spray of a 50 /50 mix of water and alcohol.I plan on painting the tail white and making a stencil for the Maltese cross.

Any thoughts on dope? The old smelly stuff is hard to find, but EZ Dope works very well. Here’s a method of applying that seems to work well for me:

  1. After shrinking tissue (which you’ve done) spray a 5% mixture of EZ Dope on the model. I use an atomizer from the Dollar Store.

  2. Brush on two coats of a 30% mixture of EZ Dope. I use a disposable sponge brush. Don’t saturate the brush, apply just enough solution to wet the tissue.

Following the instructions provided by EZ Dope will most likely warp your model, it’s too concentrated. Not sure why they recommend their method.

I am not farmiliar with EZ dope, but if it is the same as taughtnig dope it will “pull” more with more coats applied. It has an acumelitive effect as the coats are built up. Like they did in the old days using cotton on full size.

Since I do not have the proper decals and masking tape is a no go on the tissue,I decided to make a stencil out of plastic for the tail.I will make more stencils for the wings and fuselage crosses.

Carefully airbrushing the black.

Started covering the wings abd fuselage I will apply mire alcohol to shrink it tight,Takes a few applications.

Painting the white areas prior to the cross template.

Stencils workd quite well,no damage to the tissue.

[t$t] [t$t] You are tempting me to pull some of mine out of the pile and start on them. I have a Spad all finished except the covering. I sprayed all the parts with flat black so that whatever color I used for the covering would have the ribs and formers showing through but never covered it because it looks so good without it.[;)]

Post pics of the Spad Fox,if you want!Ok I need an engine so I found a 1/32 seven cylinder crankcase in my spares stash. The diameter of the cylinders would not fill the cowling so I sleeved them with aluminum tubing and wrapped them with 22 gauge wire.I will add push rods later.

The stencils turned out nice. Never had much luck painting mine. I just painted the 190 I’ve been working on, looks ok, but really added some weight. I’m afraid to put her on the scale! But she does glide. Just need a dry day here.

a Yes this one is too heavy to fly but will make an interesting ceiling hanger.Added the push rods and put on a black wash.

Post a pic of the 190Paladin if you want!I would like to see it!I remember making a Guillows Stuka in the late seventies that I painted with the old Pactra International Colors, looked great but it never flew well probably because the paint made it too heavy.

Philo, I would love to post pics of my builds. I’m in the same boat as T.B. was since the photobucket fiasco. Soon as I find a site that I can work with, I’ll start posting again. Being completely computer illiterate as I am [:(DD] it’s not easy. Will post pics as soon as I can.

I’ll add the antenae wire after the flight glitches are sorted out! The plastic cowl is removeable, attached with small magnets. It was a nice, relaxing build, might have to do another one some day. The new laser cut wood is awesome! And thanks for the invitation to post, Philo

Wow!The 190 looks great!Very impressive!

Okay!I mounted the engine on to the fuselage ,my first inclination was to mount the engine to the fire wall ,but I decided to try to make it a true rotary engine.I found a part from a Lionel stream shovel kit that was the perfect width and even allowed for landing gear mounting.I modified the part to allow the motor to be mounted up with a steel bracket that I made. The motir has a brass pinion fear gear that would be difficult to remove,so I modified a wheel from the AMT 57 Chevy kit to be used as a drive coupling for the brass tube that holds the engine and prop.Too heavy to fly,it will be a cool ceiling hanger.I need a larger cowling for when the motor is activated.I made a YouTube vid of it that I will try to paste below.Otherwise I will post a still. https://youtu.be/IGKMmJYWgBY
