Step by Step Procedures for Using Metalizer Finishes

Just about to try my first attempt at using buffing and non-buffing MM metalizers. How do you thin the stuff? (What ratio?) How long does it normally take to dry? Airbrush it over a unfinished or primed surface? Use of MM’s metalizer sealer. Appreciate your comments and many thanks…Ivan

If it’s the Model Master stuff, you shouldn’t really need to thin it. Just spray it on in light coats. You can seal it with their sealer, but I usually use Future instead. They’re laquer based and dry to the touch really quickly. I’d let them sit overnight anythough, just for good measure.

You can airbrush them on over everything… bare plastic, acrylic, enamel.

The buffing metalizers rub off too easy, but you can use the Testors clear lacquers (in the jars, not spray cans) instead of Metalizer Sealer. I don’t like the sealer.

The best I’ve seen from these paints is to use non-buffing metalizers with no sealer or anything over it. The non-buffing ones don’t have that rub-off problem.

buffing needs the sealers, but unforutnately also dulls the shine. No thinnign needed

How do you buff them? and ivanho, mebbe it’s just on my comp, but you’r font is huge…
