Can someone point me in the direction of buying the 1/48 scale steel revetments that planes were parked in out on the flight line in Vietnam. I am building an vietnam era A7D and want to parked in on a diorama of the flight line. I have seen these in pictures in FSM on diorama bases but cant locate the manufactureing company to order these from. Thanks for your help THUMPER

I too was looking for revetment and to no avail. So…I made my own out of evergreen stock. Wasn’t hard at all.

My steel revetment in Nam was an 800’ long aircraft carrier.[8D]
I have a revetment set in 1/48 scale. I do recommend you just make it out of Evergreen. The set is cast in plaster of paris and is very fragile. I have enough pieces to make molds and cast more but the majority of what was in the box is broken pieces. The company who made it was Synergy Dio Products Inc., in Canada. I think they were in business untill 1999.
I did find a source on the internet with drawings on how the revetments were built, but I don’t remember where, sorry. It has been a while. They were press formed galvanized steel sheet and consisted of many uniform sections bolted together in U shapes with the aircraft parked in the U’s, and were “nested”, with sand filled in between the walls of the nested revetments.
There were several types of revetments used in SEA. Even on the same base you could see several different types used. Even the steel revetments were different. Some were like the picture shown and others used roll formed steel and were filled with concrete, sand or dirt. Not all were capped. The revetments at Tan Son Nhut where we kept our RF-4C’s had grass growing out of the top. They were rolled steel revetments. The RF-101C revetments were solid concrete walls. In the Charlie area they had the steel formed revetments, as in the A-37 dio. Take your pick and use reference pictures.

I did some follow up on the revetment set I have (look up to my earlier post) and found that Synergy Dio Products is out of business with no likelihood of returning. Oh well. The set builds a revetment like the one at the top of this thread.
I seem to recall an article, maybe in FSM, a while back (several years) on scratch building the Vietnam Revetment Walls. I think he made a “master” and made sections in resin.
Sand filled barrels were also used.
