Finished my PT-17 Stearman (1:48 Revell kit). Today was nice and sunny, so I decided to shoot some pics. Notice the nice engine details in the first pic. I left that access panel removable.
She looks great Don! The rigging looks really well-done too, congratulations on a fine build.

Nice Stearman Don! Is that the EZ line you have there for the rigging?
Excellent build. This is a really nice kit, especially for the price. I hope we get some good AM decals. There are some very colorful schemes for this aircraft.
Excellent work. I couldn’t help but notice in the background that the trees don’t appear to have leaves, is that really the case for June up there?
Very nice build. Great job on the engine details and the rigging.
Beautiful! Especially when posed out in the sunshine with that airport backdrop! Any chance that I can get you to add and share this beauty over in the “Share your Revell/Monogram Builds” thread?
Don - Truly a very nice model of a remarkable aircraft, you turned out a great job of it. The rigging is among the best I’ve seen, appears quite to scale and neatly done. Guess it’s you that has the car and helo models in FSM this month, super nice models, well done. Thanks for the photo’s. Regards. Patrick
NICE I might break my vow and actually buy this one
Don - she looks stellar, great job! [Y]
regards,
Jack
Great job, Don!
Outstanding, Don!!
A fine build Don - great colours and excellent work with the rigging.
Great work ! The cables look great, along with the whole kit !
As always Don you show why you are one of the masters on this forum. Excellent job sir indeed.
Not quite. It is monofilament nylon- probably the same stuff but a normal thread brand from a sewing store. This is the almost transparent stuff with a slight brown cast, and I colored it with a silver marking pen before applying it.
Photo backdrop. I just posted a picture of my setup in the Model Photography forum in the Tools, Techniques and Reference Materials heirarchy (bottom of the list of forums). LOTS of leaves on trees now- this has been a very wet spring, with limited outdoor photo opportunies!

That’s even more impressive then, you did a great job with that photography work as well as with the model.
Don -
That’s a nice looking bird!
I just bought this kit for a future build (I’ve built two of the old Lindberg kits - Army and Navy trainers). I’m very interesting in your rigging technique. Please share your rigging secrets. Did you use 4-lb fishing line for your monofilament rigging?
Curt
very nice, not one that you see every day
