Anybody have this problem? My modeling room & area hasn’t increased since I moved in back in 2013, but my stash has increased and has outgrown it’s available storage space. ARGGHHHHHH!!!

I used to have my entire stash in a cabinet under my main display case…
Stash WAS dominated by 1/48, with just a couple 72nds and 32nds.
I got more into 72nd…stash grew…I moved all the 32nd stuff to the utility side of the basement, making plenty of room for more!
Well, that extra space filled up…had to get rid of a bunch of junk that was on the shelves in the utility room to make room for the 1/48 stash.
Modern/early jet/choppers on bottom shelf, WW2 in the middle, and the top is a bit of a mish-mash of everything.
The cabinet now only has a few armor kits and 1/72…plus spares boxes

Yep, I feel your pain. I have around 45 kits in my stash, until recently all stored neatly on glass shelves on either side of my office, mounted about 1 foot from the ceiling, sort of hobby shop style. I picked up another 8 recently through vendor tables at shows, or on the clearance rack at Hobby Lobby. They are piled on the floor and on top of my display case. I’m currently in the process of building 3 more display cases, with storage compartments in their base to hide more kits. [:P]

i know everyone is going to joke you about you sending them some of your stash … but check out the charity/goodwill forum here if you r serious about thinning your stash out

If you can still feed your family and pay the bills I see no problem.
O ye, seriously haveing trouble squeezing new kits in, and i have cut down on what on am buying. But even worse, i have run out of space to display bult kits. I have had to box someup and put them in the shed with the stash, which of course means even less room for that as well.

I wish I had the problem that you all have. I can’t even get a kit to build most of the time.

I am sure we have all been there Nomad. I know it can be frustrating not being able to buy the stuff you wnat for the hobby. I think many of us have been up our stashes over many years, they are a WiP all by themselves.

Listen I am running out of room too .Did you know you can ( Like a Hoarder ) stack the kits into kind of a tunnel to your workspace ? L.O.L. Or you can send half to me and I will take them to the V.A. T.B.

Both the size of my stash, and the number of power tools I own have grown, but not size of shop! When we moved into this house about twenty years ago, it had a nice size basement, and I appropriated a large area for a shop, 12 x 20. I could not imagine needing a bigger shop. It is now crammed to a lack of breathing space! Like one of Parkinson’s laws, both unbuilt kits and tools increase without limit to use all the available space.
and fit both cars in a two car garage. i have 300 in the bunker and another 300 in the garage. i really need to thin stuff out, probably most fixed wing, ww2 armor, wooden ship kits, and some boats. stick with modern warwheels, 1/72, dinosaurs, RR, helos, fire trucks.
Man, I thought I must have a near record stash at 140, but Waynec, you’re a stand alone industry. I’m 74, zero chance to finish many of what I have, even after giving away dozens prior I should make some more kids happy in the neighborhood.
when i moved back from Shreveport I asked my wife to rent a storage unit for my kits, worked out great til the little monster in my head said the house wasn’t mine unless there was atleast a dozen kits laying around, well another trip to the storage unit is in order and more therapy to quiet the unruly beast. my stash has a life of its own and occasionally invites me to parties, unfortunatly i’m obliged to bring a new gift LOL.
I was only going to lurk today but couldn’t resist this thread. When I moved in to my home in 1978 I only had ten model kits. They mated and now the population is around 500.
