Hi there! I’m from Singapore. nice to hear from all you guys out there. Say anyone into StarWars kit? Juz finish a X-wing fighter with a little C3PO in it. Should check out the B-wing fighter too & others like the Stap & battle droid, Anakin’s podracer. But the “Virago” kit is truly awesome. I brought them all from AMT. You know doing this kit in a weathered form is exciting, especially in a dioramas. well hope to hear from you all soon…

I do have a couple of Star Wars kits on the unbuilt shelf, just waiting for me to get going. Mind you, I have over a hundred other kits also vying for my attention.
I am looking forward to doing them though…someday.

As Naplak has said, the FineMolds kits (X-Wing, Tie Fighter, and Jedi Starfighter) are all brilliant kits.

The only Star Wars models I’ve seen are from Revell, and they were those “Snap-Tite” brand(Hobby Lobby). Boy I would love to build anything Star Wars. Who has the best online site to purchase Star Wars builds? Thank you for any leads
From what I’ve seen there are a few that Revell did make, and fine molds made a few. The new Star Wars movie only generated the new Stormtrooper, C-3PO, R2-D2, R5-D4 NEW version of the TIE fighter, and X-wing. There’s also the original version of the Stormtrooper, but MPC made the most. Try evilbay (ebay) if you want to get kits that either you can’t get locally, or just want to build again.
Micheals might have models if you’re looking for some that Hobby Lobby doesn’t have any that you find appealing. There’s www.walthers.com www.squadron.com just to name a couple that sell good models. I’ll do a search to see if there are any others that you might want to look at.

If you are looking for Star Wars models, Revell has released the Master Series which includes the 1/48 X-wing, 1/48 Tie Fighter, and 1/72 Millenium Falcon. These are the former Fine Mold molds. The box art is even the same as the Fine Mold kits. I have found the best prices on these kits at Sprue Brothers: X-wing Tie Falcon.
Most likely, you will only find the Fine Mold kits on eBay, but, you could try HobbyLinc Japan to see if they may still have some in stock. That is where I bought my X-wing, but that was over a year ago.

You can kind of follow the history in this thread. Funny how we thought the AMT and Revell kits were great. Guess if that is all you have to work with. Then comes the FineMolds kits that are the best. Now we have new kits from Bandai and, ahem, Revell.
This was also from the time of Ep. I-III, now we have Ep VIII and new movies coming out this year and 2017!

I’m hoping these new Star Wars movies are going promote more Star Wars models being released. I did see Revell was going to release a few new one’s this year in September.
I didn’t realise that this thread was so old - I replied to another persons’ reply to the original question. Yeah - you guys beat me to it - sprue brothers, hobby link japan, and there’s one more that I can’t remember that sells newer Star Wars stuff too. Let me get on it sometime later this week. I have to work tomorrow, and my grandmother is dying so I might not be on for either a few days, or for a while!

Little confused, am I. Original SW Trilogy vehicles (and a few Ep. VII subjects) are covered with high fidelity by the recent Bandai range (mostly 1/72 scale vehicles and 1/12 figures…plus others) which can be obtained via various online shops, including Amazon. The recent Revell range, which was designed for a “different demographic” - or perhaps a less ‘demanding’ one - aren’t bad depictions of some of the Ep. VII vehicles and will have their uses. They just are simplified and gimmicky & hence tend to fall into the ‘a model with play value’ arena. I’m not a fan of the ‘box scale’ approach either, though there is the argument that such things have no “scale” being fictional… ahem, a discussion for another thread. The latest & most expensive (1/48 OT X-wing, TIE Fighter & 1/72 Millennium Falcon) are reboxed Fine Molds kits and hence have all the qualities of those kits at an even greater price than the originals. Perhaps Revell must buy them retail from FM and then take them out of the original boxes… ;^P
Anyway. Point is, I suppose, that several ranges of kits from AMT, MPC, Revell, FM & now Bandai offer a wide range of choices from the OT, the prequels and now (a few) from Ep. VII. The kits are products of the times when they were produced. For example, I just the past week found an example of the MPC A-Wing kit on my local hobby shop’s ‘bargain’ table for $10. Until the kit by Bandai (or a resin garage kit), this was the only one available of this subject, barring building from scratch. It is a snap-tite design, simple with few parts but surprising accurate & showing evidence the original filming miniature was referenced. It is also a 1990-ish kit with the name ‘ERTL’ molded on the sprues so no high-precision fit is included or expected. Unlike the highly engineered product Bandai will provide which will undoubtedly “fall together”, this MPC kit must be ‘built’ and ‘worked’ if a high standard is desired - or just stuck together and then ‘zoomed’ about. It is up to the modeler.
As a fan of 1/48 scale, Star Wars has always been a ragged journey. Bandai’s efforts are a microcosm of that journey in that they have released a total of three OT subjects as kits. Of these wonders of modern kit manufacture, only one was not previously addressed (the Snowspeeder) in the scale. Granted, the X-Wing & AT-ST kits essentially made my stashed FM & MPC kits obsolete, so there was joy in each release. But then it was ‘bitters’ when no more 1/48 scale kits seem forthcoming - as is confirmed with each new announcement. There it is, the ‘hit and miss’ in a nutshell. (Nut is probably the perfect appellation!)
Such is this sore wound, I am reduced to converting SW toys (Hasbro seems to have a wonderful knack for making toys that turn out just the right size…) & measuring Hallmark decorations for ‘scale’. Further afield then are the arguably 1/48 Hasbro ‘Heros’ Millennium Falcon, the ‘Rise of Bobba Fett’ Slave I and the Multi-Troop Transport (MTT) w/ compliment of 20 droid figures, all spot-on for scale and reasonably well detailed. More challenging is the ‘transformer’ General Grevious Starfighter toy (seams are huge…) Undoubtedly there are other candidates.
And then there are the ‘paper’ models!
