Hello gentlemen! I have not modeled in over 35 years (did as a kid, but only to play with). I am looking to get into the WW1 models preferably 1/32 scale but 1/48 is cool as well. I know from reading & checking the pics that there are many extraordinarily gifted modellers here. Any suggestions on what would make a good “starter”? Any & all suggestions will be greatly appreciated:)

Greetings and welcome. From what I hear, the WingNut Wings kits are the current benchmark of awesome for WWI aircraft. Roden makes quite a few as well, but the quality is somewhat spotty across their WWI selection.
I’d start with something with minimal rigging and a low-ish price point before digging into higher end kits (which I why I have Roden in my stash and not WNW…).

Appreciate the info & the welcome! I was kinda of leaning toward the Fokker Dr1 or the D7 because of that very fact. Are the Roden kits finicky or do they go together fairly well? Thanks for taking the time to answer what have to be repetitive questions.
Honestly, I don’t know how the Roden kits build up as I haven’t started one yet… too much on my plate right now, sorry.
There are several builders here that do very nice things with biplanes and triplanes, hopefully they’ll chime in and give you the definitive answers.
The Roden kits are okay, but not up to the quality of a Tamiya or a German Revell or such.
I too would recommend a Wingnut kit. It is’nt that much more expensive than a Roden, but is a quantum leap in quallty. The Wingnut WW1 kits are absolutely the finest model kits I have built, with page after page of detailed instructions, even with photographs in the instruction booklet.
