Very nice work on the X-wings, not an easy task making them look right. And the transport looks great!
One question though…Did you leave any parts in your spares box?[:D]
Not many! [:D] This model was one of my most rewarding “personal victories.”
Let me explain.
My local IPMS club is all die hard anti-sci fi. So whenever there was a raffle, give-away or whatever, I would always come away with something I would never build. So I usually gave it back to them and told them to put it in the yearly raffle at our show. But every once in a while, a smartypants car/plane/WWII/Tank guy would say, “Are ya gonna build this one and stop playing with those toys?” I would get all miffed. The meeting right after I finished this beast, I brought it and showed it proudly. I got rolled eyes, fidgeting while I did my show-and-tell speil. THEN I passed around the rebel transport. You should have SEEN the looks on their faces when I itemized all the car/plane/WWII/Tank pieces that went into these things. I pointed out the parts from a Ferrari, Jeep, 1:35 Leclerc, P-47, raw sprue, sewing needles, etc…
great job! i know exactly how you feel. i build nothing but sci fi and hear alot of the same remarks.the only time i don’t hear the jokes is when i get back from the nationals.
then there are no jokes.i go to many regional competitions, which are suppossed to mirror the national format and there may be a dozen or so special awards for each category except for the space, sci fi category which is completely ignored.i’ve been to 3 different regionals which wrer handled that way this year alone.so great job and keep adding your imagination to your work.
Thats a great one Bollod2 and I really like the base to. I’m going to minicon 04 this saturday and they dont have a scifi catagorie, Im hoping that the misc. catagorie will do. I will build anything ground air water and space and find it rather strange that with what scifi effects and modeling have done for the movies that it doesnt get more respect at meats.
Hmm , no awards ? Is there such a thing as model subject racism ? I think so ! Good job anyway , looks like you poured your heart into it , take pride that you built something nice that looks like it belongs in the movie .
MarianLH, That looks SAH-WEET! you got to it before I could. I’ll just have to take my hi-res pic and do it to that for my PC desktop!
To all the others, thanks a bunch for the praise. I’m working on my Bender figure from Futurama now, and it’s looking good! Going from greeblie heaven to smooth looking metal sure is a change of pace!
