staining from washes

Is there a good technique to prevent staining from enamel washes? I’m applying on top of a totally cured gloss coat, and wiping away excess etc. but the liquid still leaves staining.

I don’t know if there is a good technique, but I used to encounter the same problem. I swithched to mixing my own with turpenoid and oil paints from HL. (Thanx, GMorrison) I am happy with the results if you clean up excess soon after applying.

I never had that issue over a gloss coat and I mix my own. That has hapenned with Vallejo acrylic wash so I stay away from them.

I highly recommend Flory Washes. They are water/clay based and when applied over a gloss coat are very easy to remove even after days of application. The downside is they are only available from the UK but the shipping is very reasonable.

I got staining using Vallejo washes over future. Then I switched to enamel washes over vallejo gloss cost the problem went away but it ate into the gloss coat, but then I switched to oil paints mixed with white spirit over alclad aqua gloss, and the washes turn out perfect
