Back by popular demand, The Spring '07 College Student GB. The requirements are:
Must attend college at least half-time. (six credits) There is no cap on age.
In the spirit of the poor college student, the project must be inexpensive, the kit must cost less than $30. Shipping not included. It can also be a gift.
This time builds do not have to be OOB, but try to limit the AM…remember, poor college student.
Any type of subject is OK: A/C, Armor, Cars, Space, etc. are all acceptable.
Cross-over builds are OK.
The deadline is June 1, 2007. This should give some time after finals to finish up. We must remember that our grades come before the GB, the deadline is a goal not a requirement. I didn’t make the last one.[(-D]
All participants must introduce themselves as students: This information includes where they attend classes and what they study.
I am, Brian, student at Kent State University majoring in Industrial Technology(Manufacturing Technology). I have a seven credit load, work full-time, and have a little baby boy that doesn’t like me to sit and build models instead of holding him. I’m going to be building some armor for this one, maybe a M4 in 1:35 from some company.
I am Robert. I am a student at Texas State Technical Collage. I am majoring in aircfaft mainitance. I have a 25 hour course load plus am looking for a job. this is my first year back to school in 16 years. If I may, I will build the R/M F-106 Delta Dart OOB without any pit detail for it will be hanging from the ceiling of my house with the gear up and locked and the weponds bay open and on standby.
Welcome to the party. 25 hours…good luck with that, seriously.[swg] I assume you have lots of lab time. Anyhow, I’m glad you joined, and I hope everything works out for you. I’ll add you in.
Glad to be back [:)] As soon as I finish my He-219 (it is ready for paint…just have to decide on a scheme and get paint) I hope to start my Zero. School starts tomorrow [:(]
A little note on the 106. I have got the wing halves and fuse halves together, but not as one peice. I have closed up the landing gear doors, and am still sanding off the putty that I used. At this time I can not post pix for I left the cam at home and do not have internet in my dorm yet. I hope that all are doing well in the build.
Hey that’s cool. I’ve gotten a small start on the hull of my M551. Tonight, I should get the rest of the hull finished finished. If I do, there will be pics.
Not as good as I’d like, but I have commited myself to complete one step every couple days. This way I don’t need a huge block of time to work on something, but I still make progress.
I wish somemore folks from the other GB would have comeback. This time it should turn out to be more of a group thing.
Mortar Magnet, I will post a few links to this GB in the off topic section and over on another board to try and drum up a few more participants.
Ok, I finished my Heinkel so now it is time to start the Zero! [:)]
I chose this kit for its simplicity, as you can see it is pretty basic. I plan on finishing it in an overall light grey paint scheme, my last two Zero’s were green.
I spent all day studying yesterday so today I am taking a break to play with this Zero.
I hope to get the sub-assemblies finished up today. I’ll be sure to snap some progress pics.
I’m a senior at Seton Hill University is Greensburg, I’m a Music major, will ahve minimal time to build, but I would like to contribute a RM Spitfire MkII. It’s been sitting around for sometime, I figure this would be a nice easy build. Which usually jinx’s me. But oh well, I’ll give it a Go. I graduate in May and will probably out of state working by june, so I hope to have it done by may 1st!
Just an update on my build. I have the front office in place and the wepons bay done.
I went home over the weekend and got my cam for taking pix of the build in progress, but now I cannot post said pix at this time for IE on my computer is all messed up and so I am back to using the computer in the libary on campus. I have just ordered a new computer from Dell and I hope that it will be here next week.
