Spray clear flat

I am in search of a readily available clear flat paint in a spray can. I’ve always used Testor’s products, but I’m having trouble finding them, so I need to find a replacement. I’d really appreciate any suggestions for a spray clear flat…what are y’all using?

Thanks,

Jim

I have used Krylon many moons ago but I can’t speak on their latest and greatest iteration since I’ve never used it. I’m sure it’s changed a couple times since what I used. One thing I can say is it was about the obnoxiously most stinky paint I’ve used in my life.

Speaking of an obnoxiously stinky paint, Gunze Mr Super Clear Flat spray I think wins that contest. Its also obnoxiously expensive.

SM2, do you have an airbrush? If you do, MRP Super Clear Matt Varnish and Alclad Klear Kote Flat both work really well.

I’ve been happy with Tamiya’s TS-80 flat spray lacquer in a rattle can. They also have semi-gloss and gloss. Bob

A lot of people like that Tamiya spray…

I airbrush my clears and use a couple of different product lines for that. But course that was not the question.

No, I don’t have an airbrush, so I’m limited to spray cans. And I use almost exclusively enamels when I brush paint, so I need something compatable with enamel paint.

The TS-80 that Bob recommended would probably be your best bet then. Can’t go wrong with Tamiya sprays, and it should be just fine with enamel or any other paint as long as it doesn’t go on too wet.
