hey all!
im in the final stages of designing my spraybooth, and have a question regarding the plenium (sp?)…
ok, i know that its purpose is to even out the air flow across the booth
what i wanna know is whats the best way to design one…
a recess in the booth, (basically just making the booth a bit deeper) and mounting the fan in the middle? (like the one on here
)
or a pyramid style plenium with the fan mounted ontop of the pyramid (sorry i cant seem to find a pic)
also, if i were to go the pyramid route, would it matter if the fan was mounted to the bottom of the booth,? ive included a sketch to help describe wot im getting at, hope u guys can make it out coz its not da best drawing

and as usual, thank you very much for the help!!!
I just came here to ask about designing a spraybooth myself! What kind of material are you going to use for the hood? what kind of filters? I’d like to make a large one because I will be starting on a model that is over 3ft long when completed and i dont want to spend over half a grand. Any help is appreciated!
check out this site dud, i designed mine from the info on this page…
http://modelpaint.tripod.com/booth2.htm
im using this fan
http://www1.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=YX2520&CATID=&keywords=fan&SPECIAL=&form=KEYWORD&ProdCodeOnly=&Keyword1=&Keyword2=&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID=
and im making it outta 9mm MDF, its gonna b 50cm wide, 40 high and 45 deep.
u can make it any size u want, just use the calculations on that site to work everything out!and make sure u get a propper fan, not something like a range hood or bathroom fan!!
also, so a search on this forum and ull find heaps o info bout spray booths!
Thanks, freind! helped me out a lot!
You will prolly laff at mine but total cost was…0. Fan from kitchen hood (free), hose from dryer exhaust leftover (free), plywood leftover from projects (free), filters are 4 A/C, works great! Collar 4 the fan to the hose is trash can (free) Wish I had shorter 1 but have to fit the 7 1/2 inch fan opening so… some wood glue, ring shank finishing nails, a little cutting out and sanding and caulk, man, it works great 4 me!!

Just an add-on, even if i had to pay 4 this stuff it would cost around 20 bucks, cuz these fans can be found in junkpiles everywhere, i got mine from my neighbor who remodeled her kitchen, it is from the hood over the stove, powerful too![:)] The plywood is 2 ft. square, but as stated can be any size. Good lighting too. I use a x-large leaf bag (trash bag) for a curtain when painting. Anyhoo, it really does work great, just tryin to help.[8)]
