Hello chaps!
here is my take on Special Hobby’s 1/48 Malta defender, Spitfire Mk.Vc. The kit was built OOB and painted with Xtracrylix.
The scene depicted is a tale told to me by a Malta veteran, the camo scheme is questionable, but its one I love and I build for fun! Hope you like this one!

us Brits are very fussy about the accuracy of our Spitfire’s, we revere them. In short, it’s well documented that we had blue Spitfire’s on ops in Malta, however there is no photographical evidence that BR323 was painted this colour. At best, it would have been Grey/Mid Stone…more likely it was a Blue/Grey shade all over painted whilst on board the USN Carrier that got her there.
But…I love this scheme!! So just for once, I threw away the rule book and had some fun! I have been told by Arthur’s family that he would approve. That’s all I needed to know.

Nice looking Spit Darren and I enjoy the color scheme. Just curious, what’s with the guy in the shorts in the scene, you said it has something to do with a personal “tale” related from Malta?

love the vibrant colours, it looks really excellent. used but not abused.
what i’m really interested in is how the construction of the kit went. I have the eduard boxing of this kit, including the eduard photo-etch set, RAF ground crew and some resin exhaust included in the box. how did it go together and did you have fit problems? if so, where? and how did you go about fixing them, becuase judging by your pictures, the kit went together very nicely.
I think you hit this one out of the park!

the kit is no shake’n bake affair. The cockpit sidewalls need to be thinned where the seat framing meets them, other wise your cockpit will not fit into the canopy!
Also, the sliding part of the canopy is too narrow if one wants to display an open cockpit, you may want to replace this part or very gently stretch it.
