spit colour schemes?

im making a spitfire not sure which one yet probably mk 1/2 so i want to know any good color schemes or somthing. also if anyone knows any good websites with good refrences/ color schems.

thanx[:D]

Hi - Generally the color scheme for a mk.I or II is Dark Green on the top and sky blue on the bottom. If you want to camouflage it, use a comb of the drak green and dark earth. I recently completed a 1/32 spitfire mk.I and instead of the dark green, I used Olive Drab. I just think it looks better and more “military”. The dark green sometimes looks a little to bright for me. When you gloss the olive drab, it looks great - like a dark, deep green. But that’s my preference.

Check out the link below: you’ll see the color scheme I described above - third picture down(dark green & dark earth). The pictures below that, you’ll notice the green is a bit darker, that’s sort of what the olive drab looks like on mine that I just did (I used model master olive drab).

Hope this helps.

Spitfire Mk I and II references are easy to find. Your public library may well have some. Also available from bookstores and online hobby suppliers. Squadron/Signal’s In Action series is probably the most cost-effective reference, and the FSM back issue on line file also has some. In general, the Battle of Britain era Spits had uppers in Dark Green/Dark Earth sprayed to a standard pattern at the factory, and the undersides were Sky. Several aftermarket decal suppliers have excellent decals including reference information.

Jcarlberg - do you have any information or web sites for the after market decal suppliers or one that you recommend. That would be good to know for future reference. Thanks.
