I want to know what EXACTLY your looking for.
From what I see (pics of the restoration) she has a star and bar on the bottom of each wing! Let me know what else you need.
EDIT: and no D-day stripes.
Under each wing is a 55" star and bar insignia, centered approximately 6 feet in from the wing tip. Or you might use a 60" insignia, 6’4" in from the wing tip. Not sure which went on Mahurin’s a/c. Just a reminder, the nose has a 24" white band. The tail has a white band 12 inches wide, 30" or 36" from the tip. And a 15" band above and below the horizontal tail plane 24" from the tip. You didn’t ask, but the pictures I was looking at tonight show a metal rod on each side of the gun sight, and a ring and crosshairs next to it. Also, there is a fairing around what looks to be a rear view mirror just ahead of the canopy, where it meets the windscreen. I don’t know if you want to be that detailed, but I thought I would throw it in.
Wayne,B17 guy,
Thanks, I know that tamiya put these markings on their 1/48 version, but not on their 1/72
version . That’s where my hang up is.Your info should help ALOT .
Again thank you
