Hi Guys!
I just spend about three days being visited by hurricane Jeanne…I had no electricity and no water for about three days…only what we had stockpiled.
Since there were nothing else to do, I decide to build one of my models, fittingly, a Hawker Hurricane Mk II (hence the title). It was kinda fun, since I could only work during daytime, and there were no distractions (TV, work, etc…)
So between radio bulletins, hauling water and picking up after the hurricane’s mess, I worked on my hurricane. It turned out pretty good; I build a Monogram 1/48th scale Mk II A, used a Battle of Britain scheme and decals. I added some Tally Ho stencils to enhance the looks.
Later on I will post some photos so you can comment. I will join now the collection with two Hobbycraft’s Mk II; a IIC tropical version with 20mm cannon & bombs, and a IID on temperate sea scheme & 40 mm cannons
Very appropriate activity. Looking forward to the pics.
Regards, Rick
I love the Hurricane Dortiz. Can’t wait to see your pics. I have an unbuilt 1/48 Airfix Hurricane Mk I on my desk which I’ve been itching to start on, just waiting for a hurricane to pass over. lol
Yeah, I’m waiting to build up lots of AM parts for my 1/48 Hasegawa Hurricane IIc. The kit parts look good, but there aren’t that many of them. Thinking about making my own internal framwork from rod, so the seams will not be present and it’ll be rounder and more to scale. I need some cockpit photos, and I’m going broke(r) buying D&S and Walkaround books. Anyone know a website with Hurricane cockpit pics?
Tom
Great idea, Dortiz. Beats waiting and worrying when the power will come back on.
Let’s just hope that’s the end of it! Four hurricanes and a tropical storm in a six-week period is a bit much! I was through a hurricane in Hawaii in 1982 and once was enough for me. I’d rather have an earthquake. (Fortunately, we don’t have hurricanes in Arizona and the few earthquakes here are the last dying shudders from the occasional large earthquake in southern California.)
