Special Hobby, 1:32, Mitsubishi A5M4 Claude.

This is my latest build. The Special Hobby , 1:32 scale, A5M4 Claude.

The kit gave me fits sometimes. The instructions weren not all to clear, the decalling and painting for the version I’ve build were wrong. ( I found this out after spraying and decaling.) The resin cockpit parts didn’t fit wel and some were omitted.

The masking tape, even after it making it more low-tack than a piece of toilet-paper, pulled of the paint after removing.

Some PE parts are replaced with scratchbuild Evergreen parts because I was afraid that they wouldn’t stick and come of during the build.( actuators and “tie-down”- rings, don’t know the correct name).

The pics;

The plane is painted with Revell enamels, silver mixed with grey, red for the hinomarus, black mixed with blue for the cowling, flat black and flat white for the stripes on the fuselage… Everything is painted except the markings on the tail and stencils. I’ve chipped the plane with Revell silver, diluted red and dark grey depending of the place of the chip.

The A5M4 was sprayed with a clear coat to prevent corrosion of the aluminium skin. So I even chipped the metal coloured surfaces.

Hope you like it.

Best regards.

Very nice. Such a pretty airplane.

Looks like it was well worth the heartache and aggravation. Beautiful job!

With all the problems it gave you it sure turned out nice!
