Hey all,

Seems like there is a bit of interest into this often overlooked subject,
There are a lot of models in the business that could be made into an aircraft that was flown during the Spanish Civil War and since there has never been a Group build about it on this forum, it might be an idea to start a GB about it.

For people not knowing what aircraft that took part in the conflict, here is a list with aircraft flown by the nationalists and the Republicans.

When you click on the aircraft you can get a list with paint shemes of the aircraft itself.

I’d be very interested but would really depend on your time frame.

I’m not planning on starting anytime soon or making a short build,
althought I would like to keep the duration around one year.
I was thinking about starting this thing in september, but if that would be to early I would make it a build from january 2013 till December 2013.

Any suggestions are welcome.
Allready made a badge again, lol.

Sept and a one year run time would be ideal for me. I am committed to a few other GB’s at the moment and i may be spending a lot of time away from home next year.

Currently overbooked. Italeri just re released the Supermodel SM.81 with an improved fabric fuse. Also really great decals including for this one. Highly recommended.

Mmhhhh, I think I want to join that one. I have several options in the stash, polikarpov R-5 or I-16, Vultee V-1 etc etc. What to chose?

I would like to enter a Polish-build RWD 8 in 1/48 from Mirage.

Only problem is that I can’t seem to find anything about the aircraft, there are alot of sites saying the same thing, there was an RWD 8 in Spain before the conflict begun but they don’t know if it survived to fight during the conflict, anyone able to shed some more info on this wether it flew or not and if it had any markings? I can find this and would like to know if there were any numbers on it if there was one, or if it actually flew or not…



Italeri has boxed this in 1/72 once…

Ninetails, the RWD 8 is a primary trainer aircraft. the wings can also be folded back. It was Poland’s primary trainer prior to WWII as well as used by civilian aviation. There was even one used by Poland’s flegdling airborne unit to drop paratroopers behind enemy lines. I have built that kit a couple of times, there is even Hungarian decals available for it.

I might want to throw in my hat with Dekno’s 1/72 PWS 10 in nationalist markings.

‘I can find anything about the RWD 8 that would be used during the Civil War’

The only thing I could find was
'This aircraft was probable used during the war and that it was brought over from Portugal,

I couldn’t find much more at the time but now I have found a couple of things,
I found this on Wikipedia, but that’s wikipedia off course.
‘Nationalist forces received 1 aircraft via Portugal and used it for training duties.’

I was able to get my hopes up when I found some modelbrand that has these in 1/72.
In the box they have the markings which I want to do, with the info it says,
“RWD-8a Serviced by spanish nationalist air force, spain, 1937”

So I will make this, wether it has flown like this or not.

I’d be in with a He 51 & Bf 109B… I’d love to find a Republican a/c…perhaps a Rata[^o)].

I have not found much more on the RWD-8 but here it is

“At least one RWD 8 was based in Spain before the Civil War, but whether it survived to take part in the conflict is not known.”
