I don’t mean to sound rude towards any member here, but I’m getting a little angry at some, and one in particular, members. I can see the administrative team taking an active role in regulating posts and threads and content and so forth. However, there is another form of abuse that has apparently been allowed to continue undebated. Spamming!!!
I understand that some people will post a quick reply or whatever for the sake of raising post counts. I can’t lie, I’ve done it too on some occasions. However, today I signed on and to my disgust, there was a swarm of one member posting one and the same idiotic reply to every single applicable thread. This is not being a productive or even non-productive member of our community. It is simple and irritating spamming.

Admin/mods, can you deal with the poster who goes by the name “likewowmanthatscool” then posts the same line, “Like wow, man, that’s cool!”, repeatedly?

Taken care of. I’d been watching him earlier in the week, and he appeared to have lost interest in the game by Wednesday. Then this morning there was a whole slew of new the messages. We’re not sure what he was trying to accomplish beyond being annoying.

I agree 100%. This person signed up on July 10,2004 that was just 6 days ago. I did not know that we could e-mail admin about this kind of thing. My hats off to you for taking care of this problem. He has avg. 15 post a day all being this same line.
It’s obviously a prankster, and I don’t think there’s any way (or professional spamming reason) for automating something like this. So somebody has to be taking the time to generate these posts manually. To deal with the problem, we have to take the time away from (1) producing a magazine and (2) doing maintenance or enhancements on the website. I guess it’s the only way he feels he can have some sort of impact on the world…
A quick fix for admin to do is go in and lock out this screen name. This should stop this person from doing this and I bet if there were a poll taken on this matter most if not all members would say the same think. LOCK HIM OUT!!! And that is my [2c]

Well he/she was irritating but fairly benign as Trolls go. Probably a 12 year old kid desperately in need of Ritalin.

Whenever you spot something you want someone to take a look into, just email Lawrence Hansen, Michael Ellis, myself, or even to webmaster@finescale.com (for the webmaster account make sure to mention it’s for FSM just in case – it dumps to a multi-site account). Just look for the Email icon 
and send a message. Before they did the upgrade to our email systems, I even had messages from here being forwarded to my home email.
