I’ve heard that the Soviet Red Army tank commanders (on the T-35 -37s?) would have to duck to avoid being decapitated when the turret turned. In other words, his bucket seat was not a part of the turret mechanism. Is this true?
Can’t speak to the T 35 issue, but many soviet designs either didn’t have a turret floor or had only a partial floor so the loader would have to follow the gun around to service it and of course to avoid injury.
