Soviet Interior Color

Hey gang, I just started a 1/48 Eduard La-7 and I already have a question… What’s the best match for interior color? The kit calls out Mr. Color C097. I don’t have access to this paint, so I thought I’d cross reference this with another Soviet kit, an Accurate Miniatures IL-2. The instructions have a wide variety of paint manufacturers, which includes Model Master. They say the cockpit color is RLM 02.

So I guess my question is should I go ahead and use RLM 02, or is there a better color for Soviet interiors in the Model Master or Tamiya line?

Thanks in advance!

The color should be A-14 gray, and the instrument panel is black. I use neutral gray, mixed with a bit of sky. Or, Dark Sea Gray is also close. Here’s a link to the La-7 in Monino Museum:

I was just thinking the other day of moving this kit up in my build list, once I’m done with my Yak 3. Hope you share your build here once you start.

Hey Nathan,

Thanks for the help. Can’t wait to slap some paint on this bad boy!

On a related subject, which release of the kit do you have? I’ve got the “Weekend Edition” and it is woefully lacking in decal placement instructions. There are some stencils which I am a little confused on placement. Does your kit have better decal instructions? Thanks!!!

Its the Profipack boxing. I can look up the stencil placement for you in a bit. I also have an Aeromaster decal sheet for the La-7, and I’ll check that as well.

Here’s a link to the Eduard website, with their Profipack instructions:
