Sounds silly but would you

I know Border models have come out with some very strange stuff in 1/35 scale recently.
Take their 1/35 Akagi bridge and flight deck, now if they produced a full version of Akagi or Yorktown would you consider buying one?
Bear in mind that this would be a whopping 25 foot long there about.
Just a thought

A 25 ft long FULL Akagi? :open_mouth: Where the heck would I put it?!
Thanks, but no thanks.
Now if Border Model did a “series” of carrier bridge islands and decks similar to the way TAKOM did all their weapon system (Gun turrets, missile launchers, etc.) model kits, then I’d be interested.
I’d gladly buy and build an ESSEX carrier bridge and deck model. That’s one of my favorites.
Would be cool to see Border do a whole series of 1/35 carrier bridges and decks:
Essex
Hornet
Saratoga
Illustrious
Constellation
Nimitz
Basically from WW2 to modern.

Given i have thought about 3D printing 1/1 figures; i would say sure why not. Probably would not buy it, but would be happy something like that existed. Do agree with the need for a series of bridges though, preferably in 1/32 though to allow for a greater number of paired aircraft.

Women have been 3D-Printing 1:1 scale people since time immemorial, although the process takes 18-25 years and alot of maintenance while the print cures

It is an interesting concept. To keep it from being cost prohibitive it would almost have to be sold in sections like they have already started with. The sheer amount of details that could be put into it is almost mind boggling. But another issue would be display. With it being that big there really isn’t that many places that you can display it. I would have to split it in half to display it in my living room or just about anywhere else in my home. It would almost have to be in a museum or something similar to display it all together at full length.

Something like that would be a lifetime project

I’ve seen pics on the Net of people who’ve built really large/long radio control ships that some people transport on boat trailers. So a 25 foot Akagi wouldn’t be much different.

Anyone remember the 1/35 Dora railway gun by Soar Art? A friend bought one from a LHS and had to open the box to carry the components into his car and then into his house.

A 1/35 Akagi? Better leave it to museums for such a monster. Or convert it into a mobile home so you can live in it after the wife divorces you and kicks you out of the house!

I suppose that I could fit a 1/35 carrier in my pool…
