Here’s my first shot from today’s work. I straightened out the landing gear and painted the turnbuckles.
Here’s a second photo from today: my rigging at the tail of the aircraft. I do have a question here, though. I haven’t placed the control lines for the rudder or the elevators. I’m ok with eyebolts as attachments for rigging that doesn’t move. I don’t know how to anchor the control lines, though, since they should just pass through the surface of the fuselage. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve got the rigging at the back of the first Camel done. Now I need to scratch the pitot tube and the air pump for this plane and get the second Camel up to this point.
I noticed in the photo that you have the same micro drill set that I have. It’s lookin’ really good so far.
Thanks, Bob. I spent the day trying to scratchbuild the air pump for the right rear cabane strut. I think I have something that will work. I’ll know after I get paint on it tomorrow.
In terms of the drills, we might have the same base for the set, but I’ve replaced so many bits over the years that I don’t know if I can even call it the same set that I bought.
You may want to move the ring site out to the area above the pilot’s right muzzle / flash suppressor.
It’s lookin’ better all the time. I am still trying to get up enough nerve to try an Armor build as well as a WWI Single, Bi or Tri Plane build. Bob
Stephen, a lot of the pictures I saw had the ring sight farther forward, but the one I was following had it located as I modeled it.
Bob, you’re obviously an accomplished modeler. Just jump right in with both feet.

Folks, I haven’t given up on this project. I was out of town for the annual meeting of the railroad historical society I belong to. I’m back now and making progress. I’ve got the top wing mounted (after breaking the attachment point on two struts and using up every dirty word I know). Tonight I finished most of the rigging on the left side of the plane. Here’s a shot.

Here’s another shot from what I’ve accomplished today. I think all that I have left to do is add the engine cowling and the prop, run the control lines to the ailerons, and do a bit of touch up to the paint here and there.
Yup, she’s almost ready for the “Dawn Patrol”. I really like the way the wood struts stand out. I’m lookin’ forward to more updates. Bob
Slow day today. I got the pitot tube and the pump on the right rear cabane strut mounted. I’ve got a clear coar drying on the engine cowling. Once I add that and the prop, this build is done. Here’s a shot of today’s work (or part of it). I can’t believe that I haven’t finished this thing and it already needs dusting (which I didn’t notice until I looked at this photo.
