Somewhat Disappointed

[xx(]I was going to build the AFV club M48H (CM11) ROC Patton that I got of Ebay a few months ago and everything was going fine until I finished the hull sides, then blammo I discover this actually a comglomeration of kits (including Academy parts) thrown togethor in the box. I had looked at the kit several times before after I had gotten it but had never noticed it. Just to show you how blind I was there wasn’t even a barrel in the box. Well I guess its live and learn. But this debacle has in no way curbed my enthusiasm for Ebay as I have gotten lots of great kits from there. Some of these kits were even missing piece’s though in every instance this was clearly stated by the seller. Well I guess its off to the spares box for this one.

[xx(] yeh that is a bummer, all the kits i buy are new.but like you said [live and learn, realy to bad tho.[:(]

Have you tried looking for a AM barrel?

The scratchbuilding thing isn’t quite my specialty, but keeping spare barrels around isn’t either.[banghead]

Barrel Depot makes a barrel especially for this kit. It is barrel number 53002.

Yes, the M48H is a conglomeration of the Academy M60A1 hull and Academy M48A5 turret along with AFV Club M88 tracks and M88 road wheels. There are supposed to be a couple of sprues AFV Club made for this kit specifically as well.

Sprue Z has the gun tube, sprockets, final drives, air cleaners grenade launchers, mantlet and turret ring. This sprue is specifically labeled AF 35S-01 M48H. Sprue W contains the .50 cal machine gun and the M240 loader machine gun.

The Academy M48A5 sprues is sprue B and contains turret details like the search light, cupolas, etc. Academy M60A1 sprues B and C contain parts to detail the M60 hull.

If you’re missing the barrel, you’re probably missing the whole AFV sprue Z.

The reason I started to suspect the kit was because there was no Z sprue maybe thats my only problem then Ill have to look into it. First time I ever had a kit with two makers parts in it rather confusing. I know that makers rerelease other makers kits but this was a little disconcerting.
