All the other forums I’m on are pretty boring. It may take several days to get a response to a post if at all. FineScaleModler forum members are very knowledgeable on many subjects and are willing, even eager to share that knowledge. Most of the members are also interested in watching WIP builds and offer assistance rather than criticisms on those builds.
I log into this forum 95% more often that the others. I feel far less intimidated and far more willing to share my thoughts and builds here. Plus to me, this site is easier to navigate.
Also though we have a few grouchs most everyone here is friendly and helpful. I left a few forums due to several ‘backseat driver’ types that never posted anything but spent all their time ripping everyone else’s work.
This is why I come here .Living in a house with two people who could care less about the world around them and my hobbies is what makes it so . Plus I get to spend time sharing thoughts , techniques and other things with you and the others . Tanker - Builder
I sure agree. The old newsgroup rec.models.scale also used to have same features before it was taken over by unseamly characters. Loved that newsgroup, but this forum has the same features and some classification so you are not wading through a hundred message titles a day.
I agree. Whenever I have a question, I’ll usually end up with several answers…that day!
This is especially good when I am in the middle of a build and unsure about something. I’ve been on here since 2004 and it’s always been the same way. This has been my “go to” all along and I know my modelling would not be anywhere what it is today without it. In fact, countless times I’ll google something and end up right back here anyway!
There is one other site that is almost as good but I feel more like I’m part of a group here and it’s more personal.
And only around here will you find people who don’t mind relating their blunders, such as gluing their hand to their forehead or driving an Xacto knife into their thigh!
Well, as I never make any mistakes, such as gluing fingers together, spilling plastic weld onto a painted model, adding an oil wash to an enamel painted model without giving a full coat of future, gluing resin parts together with CA glue in the wrong place and not being able to pull them apart or posting updates in GB’s I ain’t even a part of, I clearly don’t have any of these things to share. But despite joining several other forums over the last couple of years, I can’t find any that compare to this place. With other forums I find I have to remember to visit every few days and then hardly post. But with this place its automatic. I don’t why, but no other place I have been on compares to this one.
I use Opera web browser to access this site and include other preferred sites in the same grouping.
As all websites in the grouping are visible, I can’t forget to visit however many I wish to visit.
GB’s, in particular. This one seems to have the most active ones. (Sorry I dropped the ball with your Ju-87 build, BTW) I guess that could be a mistake. Signing up for a GB, then not finishing. [*-)]
Hey it was only once. geeeesh! [H] next time i’ll take a picture.
fingers, OTOH…
this forum is also really good about finding something positive to say about ANY build before mentioning things that could be improved and PROVIDING suggestions on how to improve. i have NO worries about posting something i tried and was less than successful at. this forum has turned me into and oil wash and filter junkie WITH GOOD RESULTS.
