well here is something i came up with to free BOTH hands [:D]
the only tools needed are these
all you need is a little time and planning and you can turn these out to wharever size or configuration that you need [:)]
material needed for thses
2 - lengths 5/16 plastistrut H Beam
2 - lenghts 1/4 Plastistrut H Beam
Tenax 7-R
Rubberbands

Could you give an example of how you use them? I can see that the v’s would hold the hull of a ship or fuselage of an aircraft. What are the smaller H-beams (or I-beams, hey that’s my handle, cool) for?
Only in modeling is rust considered artwork and a third-hand considered good[:D][:p]
i actualy own something simalar, it has a square cast iron base, four aligator clamps for holding things and a magnifying glass.

the extra I-Beams are for wrapping rubberband around
i am currently rescribing the panel lines on a A-10 Thunderbolt from AMT [;)]

Ahhh, rubberband anchors. Gotcha, very nice! I guess that’s a 1/32 A-10. 1/48 is the biggest stuff I will every make (lack of space) so I’ll have to make smaller versions.
