Something Blue

G’day Folk’s,

Modified from the Tamiya 48 Beaufighter Mk IV this subject is based on a Desert Air Force Tactical Reccon Mk I Beaufighter, resin horizontal tailplanes, along with other resin pieces and an Eduard PE set, have been used in this build, the gun sight has been relocated to the travel position [inline with the right hand windscreen suport upright], the pilot seat is resin also.

The camera [taken from the Mosquito B IV kit], mouted rearward of the observers hatch has been covered with a piece of evergreen clear sheet, the Landing Lights and the IFF identification lights have been added [from a model train accessory]. The observers capolla has been cut and the Vickers K gun installed, and clear decal film painted hull red make up the gun port coverings, this model is not PRU Blue, but a wierd mix of Insignia Blue, based on colour sideviews of this aircraft, this was near to the colour scheme I could get.

The Mk I Beaufighter had stub exhausts and not the hedgehog type, I mixed Humrbol Midnight Blue enamel with a little semi gloss White to get this colour scheme, the weathering, exhaust and other stains are pastels. The model has been coated in Dullcoat.

rob excellent work.
