I actually didn’t have any models finished to display until this week. I have a real problem letting things go, and putting them on the shelf. I think it was the major reason why I gave the hobby up for a while. So here is my Sdkfz 250/7, which I posted previously, with some slightly modified figures, which have badly painted faces[:(] all mounted on a very simple base.
I have come to the conclusion that I can’t build a grandiose diorama for every model, otherwise I’ll never finish anything, so if I can’t think of anything really good, I am going to do more small displays like this. Well perhaps not quite this simple![:I]

As always, I would love to here any comments, pointers and constructive criticism, but please understand that for my own sanity, it is staying on the shelf![:D]
P.S. I have no idea what they are all looking at!
Very nice job, it’ll look great on any shelf.
It looks great! Maybe just a lamp post or a little debris (blowing newspaper or something like that) and I think you’ve got a darn nice little dio there.
Robert
very nice!!! great job!!!
Nicely done Matt. I think we all have problems calling a kit done sometimes so congratulations on your finish !!!
P.S. - What are they looking at … they are probably spying on you smuggling another kit into the closet. [;)][;)]
Neat little half track Matt. How were the indy tracks?
looks awesome I personaly think the guys look great…you are always your worst critic.
Nice work. Halftracks are a favorite subject of mine anyway!
Looks great
what are they looking at? have you got any Pirelli calenders
great job Phroosh Nice little dio , good concept , and I personally think the figs look pretty darn good too ! So congrats on your first completed dio , I am sure it will not be your last .[8D]
Great job phroosh even without a grand dio .
Good work Phroosh. Looks great.
Keep well.
Phroosh, great looking dio there. Only thing I might have done is maybe placed the vehicle facing the same direction as the infantry. This way the mortor would be firing in the direction in which the people are looking. This by the way is not critisism just a suggestion. Again it all looks great.
It looks nice, and you can always add from it, or take from it… that’s what I do.
Nothing on my shelf sits for very long before getting “transferred to a new part of the war”.
You may add debris to it, or not. Maybe 6 months from now you walk past and sprinkle a little debris on it… the point is that you shouldnt get caught up in “is this finished” and get stressed over something that should be relaxing… i know from experience. [:)]
Now that it is done… what are you building next?
p.s. its not your fault the figures are like it, its Tamiya’s fault. better figures, well … just look better and that is why they are better figures.
What are you whining about? That looks really good, especially on a shelf.
Great job, Matt.
They’re looking at a drunken Otto Carius stumbling back to his Tiger…
That third pic really creeped me out. Made me duck.
Great job man. Nice paint job.
good job phfoosh[tup] you’ll see something in the next couple of months, just something small that will add to it. it always happens. a dio is never finished. love those halftracks! keep up the good work.
Looks great Matt. Small dio’s can often be more effective than large ones. The larger a base, the more you need to put in to create harmony between the high and low spots and that can draw attention away from the main model.
I agree with Foster that sometimes a dio gets a lift if you break up a dead flat base. A lamp post or something would be good, but seeing as you said you want it simple, having to put a pavement in now may be too much -perhaps then just the top section of a street sign post - make it look like it was pushed over.
Or maybe a sewer manhole cover put in the middle of the large blank space of cobbles and some dried tea leves and bent fuse wire scattered here and there to represent branches off some nearby trees, etc. Just enough to break up the flat expanse of cobbles. A bit of sand and grit to represent the dried mud shaken of the vehicles whilst driving over the cobbles is also effective.
Another way would be to cut out a few cobbles and have a pile of loose cobbles near a tipped over barrow or something. As if the road repairers took off when the fighting got too close.
Still looks great as is.
